Welcome to LoCal Green.
California cannabis, explained without the marketing. Education, licensed local businesses, and the people building one of the state's largest industries. 21+.
LoCal Green — California cannabis: education, industry, and the people behind it.
(Intended for adults 21 and over)
Every generation learns to see something differently.
There was a time when conversations about therapy happened behind closed doors.
Now people talk openly about mental health, recovery, and looking after themselves.
Cannabis is somewhere in the middle of a similar shift, and it is messier than that comparison suggests.
For some people it is medicine.
For others it is part of a wellness routine, or a Friday night, or nothing at all — plenty of Californians have no interest in it and that is a completely reasonable position.
What is consistent across all of those groups is the same complaint: it is genuinely hard to find information that is not either marketing or myth.
That is the gap this section is for.
California didn't just legalise it. It built an industry.
Walk through almost any Southern California city and you will pass licensed dispensaries, delivery services, testing laboratories, manufacturers, and cultivators.
Behind them are budtenders, chemists, farmers, compliance officers, designers, drivers, and small business owners.
What was an underground market is now one of the state's largest and most heavily regulated industries — and like every industry we cover, it is mostly made of people trying to run a business well.
Those are the stories we are interested in.
Education before anything else.
The plan is to explain things plainly: the difference between THC and CBD, what terpenes actually do, how indica and sativa labels hold up against the science, how edibles differ from flower in onset and duration, what product labels and test results mean, how to store things safely in a house with children in it, and what California law actually requires of you.
Whether you have never tried it or have been using it for twenty years, the goal is the same — that you understand it better afterwards.
What we will and won't do.
We won't give medical advice.
Cannabis interacts with medications and affects people very differently. Nothing here is a substitute for a conversation with a doctor or pharmacist who knows your history, and we will say so every time it is relevant.
We won't make health claims we can't support.
Research on cannabis is real, ongoing, and frequently overstated by people selling things. Where evidence is preliminary, we will say it is preliminary.
Licensed businesses only.
California's unlicensed market is large, untested, and sometimes genuinely dangerous — unlicensed products have been found to contain pesticides and heavy metals. Everything we cover will hold a state licence, and you can verify any licence yourself through the Department of Cannabis Control.
This is for adults.
Cannabis is legal in California for adults 21 and over. This section is written for them.

Why this belongs on Support LoCal.
This site exists to connect people with the businesses that make Southern California work.
Cannabis is now part of that — tens of thousands of jobs, thousands of licensed small businesses, and a set of owners navigating one of the most demanding regulatory environments any small business faces.
A dispensary owner is running a small business under rules a restaurant owner would find unimaginable. That is worth covering seriously.
We are not here to tell anyone what to do with their weekend.
We are here to make sure that whatever people decide, they decided it with good information.
LoCal Green Principle #1 — Knowledge gets stronger when it is shared. The more we understand about the people, science, and businesses behind cannabis, the better every decision gets.
Educational information only, intended for adults 21 and over. Not medical or legal advice — consult a qualified healthcare professional about your own situation, and verify any business licence through the California Department of Cannabis Control.
